Rhys Evans
Founder & Clinical Director
-
Rhys founded Solid Hope Counselling in 2018, driven by a passion for addressing the spiritual and mental well-being of individuals. His journey began in his late teens and has since involved helping numerous individuals through various challenges, including divorce, trauma, depression, marital issues, relationship problems, sexual issues, and anxiety.
Throughout his 20s, Rhys studied ministry and counselling while serving in different roles within several churches, such as youth leader, media director, teams director, prayer team leader, and acting associate pastor. His experiences in pastoral care ignited a strong desire to engage in full-time community counselling, leading to the establishment of Solid Hope.
Recognizing the limitations of traditional pastoral care, Rhys expanded his expertise by studying various psychotherapy models and evaluating counselling practices through a Christian lens. This commitment to professional growth culminated in accredited studies in Counselling & Psychotherapy, including the completion of a Master of Counselling.
Outside of his dedication to helping others, Rhys values time spent on personal interests such as reading, hiking, and enjoying the beach. Though originally from Melbourne, he has resided on the Gold Coast for the past 13 years with his wife, Amy. Rhys holds a Master of Counselling, a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry, and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Spiritual). He is also a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA member #27101) and part of the College of Supervisors.

Sophia Seve
Senior Counsellor: Relationships, Individual, Trauma, Grief & Loss
-
Sophia is a warm and compassionate counsellor with over 16 years of experience walking alongside people through life’s ups and downs. She has a heart for helping individuals, couples, and families find renewed hope, healing, and resilience.
Her journey into counselling began with a deep love for people and a calling to walk with them through life’s challenges toward restoration. Over the years, she has seen the power of being truly understood — and the pain that comes when people aren’t. This has fuelled her passion to give voice to those who feel misunderstood and to create a safe space where every story is heard, valued, and met with compassion and truth.
Sophia works from a biblical, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approach. Her key areas of interest include relationships and couple care, parenting and family dynamics, trauma recovery, grief and loss, anxiety, childhood and attachment wounds, spiritual concerns, identity, self-worth, and neurodiversity.
She holds a Bachelor of Counselling (Bond University) and is completing a Certificate in Biblical Counselling with CCEF USA. Her faith is central to who she is, and she delights in helping others discover strength, purpose, and God’s loving presence in their story.
Outside of counselling, Sophia enjoys time with her husband and two adult sons. She loves music, dancing, theatre, travelling, and serving in her church community.
Whether someone is navigating a difficult season or seeking personal growth, Sophia counts it a privilege to journey with them.
